How to Write
- Write what you're passionate about. Write what you know. Write what interests you.
- Write every day.
- Set deadlines. Critique groups help you do this.
- When you think about something, jot it down. It's a good idea to keep a notepad by your bed, in your purse or pocket.
- You're doing your best. Don't beat up on yourself.
- Edit, edit, edit. Put it aside and come back weeks or months later and edit it again.
- When you are in your creative mode, write. Get your ideas down first. Then go back and correct the spelling, formatting, move things around, delete and fill in with description, action, dialog.
- Out of your story? You’ve left it awhile and now can’t get back into it? Yes you can. Read it from the beginning, straight through, and when you are done reading, start typing, don’t think about it, do it.
